slideshow: citizens' summitSeveral activists put up the display. Even a member of the German Bundestag (Petra Pau, PDS) helped us. The picture of Tony Blair was filmed by a team from Reuters. It was printed in the The Times, Financial Times and on the front page of The Guardian. Campaigners from Vote 2004 gave several interviews. Our display was on the spot again - just as it was in Brussels during the last session of the Convention on the Future of Europe in June and the European summit in December 2003. The British group Vote 2004 brought three vans with hard-hitting adverts calling for a referendum. Will Schröder listen to the demand for a referendum ... ? In the coalition treaty the government has argued for a referendum. The three vans got a lot of media attention. The German TV station ZDF reported form the event as well as the euobserver.com. Overall, it was a very successful event. Ronald Pabst |
