Hi from Bulgaria!

For 6 days now we have been collecting signatures for the European referendum in a symbolic action in the streets in Sofia a lot of people signing on the posters directly. In Bulgaria there is nor a dialogue between officials and citizens neither a meaningful debate in the media on the European constitution. We have submitted (already in summer) a demand to Parliament, President etc. for such a discussion and demanded a referendum on the European constitution also in Bulgaria. Even if it enters into force by 2007 the citizens may and should have a say on it.

Photos are from beside the National Assembly and another place in the centre of Sofia. On 4th of Dec. there was also a conference-discussion on our initiative and with the help of Balkan Assist Association concerning the European constitution and the currently drafted law intending to 'grant' the people a right to call referenda themselves. In both cases our point is for real working democratic rights and not handicapped imitations.
