Democracy Tour in the UK
Delayed arrival - Westminster - Public debate in Chelsea
Day One (24.3.)
The tour started with a great delay. After the bus had left the ferry in Dover the British customs took a close look at it - 6,5 hours. The bus driver was interviewed by the security service. Naturally they found no reason to stop the bus. Only suspicious people might think that this investigation was a result of the conspicuous paintwork of the bus.
Finally, the bus arrived just in time to spend a wonderful night in the underground car park beside a roaring generator.
Day Two (25.3.)
We inflated our display in front of the Houses of Parliament. The police showed up.
In the evening a public debate took place in Chelsea.
Speakers:
John Cryer MP - Labour for a Referendum
David Heathcoat-Amory MP - Conservative representative of the UK Parliament on the European Convention
Thomas Rupp - European Referendum Campaign
Sir Anthony Meyer - Federal Union
Professor Stephen Haseler - Federal Union
Chair:
Marc Glendening - Campaign Director, Democracy Movement
