European Citizens’ Initiative

Democracy International helped ensure the inclusion of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) in the draft EU Constitution and later in the Lisbon Treaty.

We welcome the European Commission's efforts to make the initiative available to citizens as soon as possible by developing implementing regulations and have published our response to their green paper on the topic.
